What this page shows

Hyperliquid TVL (total value locked) is the sum of USDC deposited across every vault on Hyperliquid — the native perpetual DEX's on-chain vault system. This page pulls every active vault from Hyperliquid's on-chain state and sums their current TVL. Numbers recompute every few minutes. There are no aggregator delays, no weekly snapshots — this is the live number.

The Hyperliquid vault ecosystem is dominated by HLP, the protocol-owned Hyperliquidity Provider vault. HLP is a community-owned market-making vault that accrues a portion of protocol trading fees plus PnL from on-book quoting and routed liquidations. Everything outside HLP is a "leader vault" — a trader running directional, market-neutral, grid, or systematic strategies with depositor capital.

TVL distribution

How TVL is distributed across size buckets. HLP sits alone above $100M; a thin middle tier hosts the large leader vaults; the long tail is made up of sub-$1M vaults testing new strategies.

What drives Hyperliquid TVL changes

Hyperliquid vault TVL moves for four distinct reasons — it is useful to separate them before reading any TVL chart.

  1. Net deposit/withdrawal flow. Depositors adding or pulling USDC. This is the "real" capital-movement signal. Whale flow alerts on VaultVision track the largest of these.
  2. Mark-to-market PnL. TVL goes up when vault positions are in profit, down when they bleed. A vault's TVL can rise 5% overnight with zero new deposits if its positions gapped in.
  3. HLP fee accrual. HLP TVL specifically compounds every hour from protocol trading fees — this is a slow, steady upward drift even in quiet markets.
  4. Lockup expiry. HLP has a 4-day lockup on deposits. A wave of withdrawals unlocks 4 days after a deposit wave, which creates the "echo" pattern sometimes visible in HLP TVL.

TVL vs APR — quick sanity check

A common mistake: treating high APR and rising TVL as an automatic "this vault is good." The opposite is often true. A vault with a 200% APR accumulating fast deposits is more fragile than the same vault at lower TVL — the manager has less flexibility to rebalance, liquidity on exit becomes a real concern, and the position concentration that drove the high APR becomes harder to hedge.

VaultVision's risk score explicitly penalises large-TVL vaults with unstable TVL volatility, for this exact reason.

Frequently asked questions

What is the current Hyperliquid TVL?
Total value locked across all active Hyperliquid vaults is $468.6M right now, across 45 vaults. HLP alone holds $394.8M (84.2% of total); the remaining $73.8M is split across 44 leader vaults. Recomputed every few minutes from Hyperliquid on-chain state.
What is HLP TVL right now?
HLP (Hyperliquidity Provider) currently holds $394.8M, which is 84.2% of all Hyperliquid vault TVL. See the live HLP vault page for current APR, 30/90-day return, drawdown, and risk score, and the HLP mechanics explainer for how that number changes over time.
How is this TVL calculated?
We query Hyperliquid's on-chain vault state directly — no aggregator. For each active vault, TVL = total USDC equity held at that vault's address, including unrealised PnL on open positions. The page sum is across all vaults with status = active. Numbers refresh every few minutes.
Does this include HyperEVM TVL or only vaults?
This page covers vault TVL only — the USDC deposited into Hyperliquid's native vault system. It does not include HyperEVM DeFi protocols, staking, or non-vault perp/spot open interest. For total Hyperliquid TVL across everything, an aggregator like DefiLlama will have a broader figure.
Why does HLP dominate TVL?
HLP is the protocol's canonical market-making vault — the one that backstops liquidations and earns the fee share on every perp trade. It is the default destination for depositors who want passive exposure to Hyperliquid's fee engine without picking a leader. Leader vaults compete with each other; HLP competes with "hold USDC in wallet," which is a much easier sell.
